Open Positions

The Peterson Laboratory is always looking for motivated researchers to join our team!!!

PhD openings are available through the multidisciplinary Materials Science, Engineering, and Commercialization (MSEC) program. Please see https://www.msec.txstate.edu/ for more information and feel free to contact me if you are interested in our work prior or shortly after your application is submitted. A Master’s degree is required for admission but acceptance into the program comes with financial support.

MS – Positions are open for students looking for a lab for a mentor to support their thesis work. Please contact me for more information. There are options to support your studies through Instructional assistant (IA) positions or through the SoTXDoctoral Bridge program and a flyer can be found here. The new Bridge Program director is Steve Whitten. More about the MS Chemistry/Biochem program can be found HERE.

Undergraduate researchers should contact Ryan directly via email to inquire about openings. Our lab makes every effort to provide research opportunities for young TX State students. We typically have 4-open positions in the lab per year. Sophomore and junior level researchers are given priority due to the nature and mentoring structure of the lab. New researchers are paired with a senior researcher for the first 1-2 months and an independent research project. Members are expected to assist in training the next generation of researchers.

Undergraduates are encouraged to seek internal funding for their research projects: For more information on this and opportunities please see the following websites: Undergraduate Research fellowship( URF), U-RISE  (URISE) and Rising S.T.A.R travel grant. Opportunities through the ACS (link here)
